6.9-in Vertical Industrial Capacitive Touch Bar Display Module for HMI
A narrow 280 × 1424 IPS touch module with a 40-pin RGB/TTL interface, projected capacitive touch, and −20°C to +70°C operation for compact HMIs.
Product Summary
The Vertical Industrial Capacitive Touch Bar Display is a 6.9-inch elongated TFT LCD module for equipment interfaces that need a tall, narrow interactive display rather than a conventional rectangular panel. Its native 280 × 1424 resolution creates a vertically extended workspace, while the 33.6 × 170.88 mm active area keeps the visible interface narrow enough for instrument panels, appliance controls, status strips, and other space-constrained HMI designs.
The module uses IPS display technology with transmissive operation, 450 cd/m² typical luminance, a 1200:1 typical contrast ratio, and 80°/80°/80°/80° viewing angles in the left/right/up/down order. Projected capacitive touch is integrated into this CTP configuration, making the module suitable where both display output and direct user input are required.

280 × 1424 Vertical UI Design
Plan Content for the Tall Active Area
A 280 × 1424 native raster creates a very different UI workspace from standard 16:9 or 4:3 panels. The narrow width is well suited to vertically stacked information such as operating states, menu selections, temperature or process values, machine warnings, parameter groups, and elongated touch controls.
Design teams should create UI assets at the native 280 × 1424 resolution rather than simply scaling a conventional landscape interface. Important touch targets should be distributed around the actual 33.6 × 170.88 mm active area, with text size and spacing validated on a physical sample.
The long aspect also makes the display useful for equipment designs where a wide standard LCD would consume too much front-panel space.
IPS Viewing and 450 cd/m² Optical Grade
The IPS configuration provides an 80°/80°/80°/80° left/right/up/down viewing specification. This is useful for control interfaces that may be viewed from different standing or operating positions rather than from one fixed axis.
The standard detailed luminance value is 450 cd/m² typical. That is an appropriate starting point for indoor and controlled-light equipment, but final readability should still be evaluated after the touch layer, front window, enclosure and ambient lighting are included.
Integrating the Vertical Industrial Capacitive Touch Bar Display
40-Pin RGB/TTL Host Qualification
The native display path is RGB/TTL rather than MIPI. The 40-pin drawing identifies SPI-related lines together with an 18RGB data structure and notes RGB565/RGB666 compatibility.
A 40-pin connector match does not guarantee RGB timing, pin mapping, or touch-signal compatibility.
Before a controller board is released, verify the complete FPC assignment, pixel clock, synchronization or data-enable requirements, RGB data mapping, SPI-related lines, electrical levels, cable orientation and the exact NV3052 production revision.
The NV3052 identifier should not be used to infer host initialization, register programming, power sequencing or controller-board compatibility without the approved electrical documentation.
Touch-Control Lines on the Shared FPC
Projected capacitive touch is part of this CTP configuration. The 40-pin definition also identifies dedicated touch-related lines including TP_INT, TP_SDA, TP_SCL, TP_RESET, TP_VCI and GND.
These signals show that touch-control functions are represented separately from the RGB image-data path even though they share the module connection structure.
Projected capacitive touch is confirmed, but touch-point count, controller model, communication voltage and software-driver requirements are not defined.
For firmware release, request the touch-controller documentation together with the display pin definition rather than assuming that the RGB display interface also defines the touch protocol.
Mechanical Integration for the 6.9-Inch Touch Module
Active Area, LCM Outline, and Touch Envelope
Three different dimensions matter during enclosure design.
The 33.6 × 170.88 mm active area defines the visible image. The base LCM measures 38.2 × 181.47 × 3.4 mm, while the touch-equipped product envelope is 47 × 196 × 4.9 mm.
The touch-equipped assembly and the base LCM use different mechanical envelopes.
A front opening based only on the LCD outline may therefore be insufficient for a CTP-equipped build. Enclosure release should use the approved assembly drawing, including touch border, cable exit, FPC clearance and any front-cover overlap.
FPC and Front-Panel Release
The mechanical drawing should also control cable orientation and service clearance. A long, narrow display can be mechanically sensitive to connector position because the available enclosure width is limited.
Before tooling begins, verify the FPC direction, connector mating position, bend radius, cover opening and touch active region. If the finished equipment uses a decorative front lens or additional protective window, its dimensions should be reviewed together with the touch module rather than added after the enclosure is fixed.
Temperature and Backlight Planning
The confirmed operating range is −20°C to +70°C, with storage from −30°C to +80°C. This provides a useful environmental range for industrial controls, smart equipment and appliance interfaces where internal cabinet temperatures may vary more than in ordinary consumer electronics.
The −20°C to +70°C operating range does not establish an IP rating or exposed-weather suitability.
The finished equipment still needs separate qualification for moisture, condensation, dust, solar heating, sealing and thermal management when environmental exposure is involved.
The backlight is WLED, with eight white LEDs identified for the module. Backlight voltage, current, power and lifetime grade are not fixed in the current public specification, so the backlight electrical requirements should be confirmed before production power design is released.
Recommended HMI and Equipment Applications
The Vertical Industrial Capacitive Touch Bar Display is particularly relevant to instrument and meter panels, narrow industrial HMIs, smart appliance control interfaces, equipment status strips, machine-control panels and embedded terminals where a conventional wide LCD does not fit the available front-panel geometry.
The 280 × 1424 format also supports product designs that need a vertically organized information hierarchy, such as stacked machine states, parameter selection, operating-mode navigation or narrow touch-control zones.
Healthcare-equipment integration should be treated as a display-component application only; any medical-device safety, compliance and finished-system qualification must be established separately.
Customization and Procurement Planning
Custom configurations are generally reviewed from 500 pieces, subject to tooling requirements, material availability and the requested specification. Sample and standard-module quantities are confirmed separately.
Potential changes to the touch cover, FPC, pin definition, bonding method, interface or mechanical structure should be reviewed against the selected production revision. A customization request does not automatically mean every electrical or mechanical parameter can be changed without tooling or engineering impact.
Procurement Checklist
Before releasing a Vertical Industrial Capacitive Touch Bar Display order, confirm the production P/N, commercial 6.9-inch designation, 280 × 1424 timing, 450 cd/m² luminance grade and tolerance, 262K color configuration, 40-pin RGB/TTL mapping, SPI + 18RGB mode, RGB565/RGB666 requirement, touch-control lines, touch-controller documentation, NV3052 revision, 33.6 × 170.88 mm active area, 38.2 × 181.47 × 3.4 mm LCM outline, 47 × 196 × 4.9 mm touch envelope, WLED configuration, FPC orientation, operating environment, sample quantity and annual demand.
