5 Inch Landscape Capacitive Display Module for Industrial HMI

A configurable landscape TFT touch assembly for compact embedded operator interfaces.

The 5 Inch Landscape Capacitive Display Module is a touch-display assembly for industrial HMI controls, smart-home operator panels, compact equipment interfaces, and portable test or service terminals. Its landscape cover structure combines a TFT LCD with a separate capacitive-touch connection, but the resolution, display interface, touch controller, pin assignment, and mechanical drawing must be selected as one matched configuration.

A matching 5-inch diagonal does not establish electrical or mechanical interchangeability.

The purchase specification must identify one resolution, display interface, touch controller, pin assignment, cover structure, and mechanical drawing.

Configuration Identity Comes First

The available configurations include different resolution, interface, touch-controller, active-area, and outline values. They must not be treated as one universal module merely because the product family shares a 5-inch diagonal and similar front appearance.

Resolution selection

A 480×854 version and an 800×480 version are both represented. The host timing, UI orientation, active area, and mechanical design must follow the resolution selected for the ordered assembly.

The PCB and software should not be released against an assumed resolution.

Display-interface selection

Parallel RGB and MIPI display paths are both represented. These are different host architectures and require different signal definitions, timing, connector assignments, and controller resources.

An RGB host cannot be connected to a MIPI panel merely through a passive cable.

Mechanical-version selection

Two mechanical data sets are represented:

  • 106.24 × 81.35 × 3.50 mm
  • 128.20 × 84.12 × 4.80 mm

The enclosure opening, connector clearance, cable routing, mounting points, and cover-lens fit must follow the approved drawing for the ordered version.

Capacitive-Touch Assembly

The product photographs show a landscape cover structure with a separate touch FPC. The completed assembly therefore requires both display-path and touch-path qualification.

Touch-controller identity

GT911 and GSL3670 references appear across the available configurations. They must be treated as different touch-controller possibilities, not interchangeable labels for one guaranteed design.

The selected touch controller determines the required communication path, pin definition, firmware support, interrupt behavior, reset handling, and supported touch functions.

I2C touch-control path

I2C is represented in the configuration data and is most appropriately treated as a touch-control or auxiliary interface until the complete pin definition is approved.

I2C does not carry the full TFT pixel stream for an RGB or MIPI display path.

Touch-point capability

No universal simultaneous-touch count is confirmed for every configuration. The required touch-point count must be included in the order specification and validated with the selected controller, firmware, cover thickness, and host platform.

5 Inch Landscape Capacitive Display Module Compatibility

The host board must match the selected display interface, touch interface, voltage levels, FPC geometry, and native timing.

Parallel RGB configuration

For a parallel RGB version, confirm:

  • Native resolution and pixel timing
  • RGB data width
  • Pixel-clock requirements
  • Horizontal and vertical synchronization
  • Voltage levels
  • Reset and enable signals
  • Complete FPC assignment
  • Backlight-control requirements
  • FPC contact side and insertion orientation

MIPI configuration

For a MIPI version, confirm:

  • Lane count
  • Lane mapping
  • Clock configuration
  • Native timing
  • Voltage and power requirements
  • Control-signal handling
  • Complete FPC assignment
  • Host-controller support

The presence of a 40-pin FPC does not establish compatibility with another 40-pin panel.

Other host interfaces

HDMI, LVDS, eDP, DisplayPort, and USB video cannot drive a raw RGB or MIPI panel directly without suitable controller or conversion hardware.

Controller and Driver-IC Boundaries

GT911 and GSL3670 are touch-controller references. ILI980E or ILI9806E references relate to the display side of represented configurations.

These IC names do not prove:

  • A universal pin assignment
  • A shared initialization process
  • Identical firmware
  • Matching voltage levels
  • A common power sequence
  • Compatibility with a generic controller board
  • Compatibility between the represented variants

The complete module specification remains controlling.

Mechanical Integration

The finished assembly includes the LCD, touch cover, adhesive structure, display FPC, and touch FPC. Each element affects the final enclosure design.

Front-window and cover fit

The front opening should follow the selected cover-lens and display-area drawing. Using only the nominal diagonal or active area can expose border structures or obstruct useful image content.

Separate FPC routing

Provide clearance for:

  • The main display FPC
  • The touch FPC
  • Connector locking mechanisms
  • Cable bend radius
  • Rear components
  • Assembly and service access

Sharp folds, fastener pressure, and adhesive contact with component areas should be avoided.

Thickness and tolerance

The represented total thicknesses differ by configuration. The final stack must include the LCD, touch sensor, cover, adhesive, and tolerance values shown in the approved drawing.

Brightness and Operating Environment

A 300 cd/m² brightness value is stated for one represented configuration. It should not be applied automatically to every RGB, MIPI, GT911, or GSL3670 variant.

The standard 300 cd/m² configuration is intended primarily for indoor or controlled-light equipment.

No sunlight-readability grade, waterproofing, optical bonding, anti-reflection treatment, or environmental certification is confirmed.

The stated operating range is −20°C to +70°C, with storage from −30°C to +80°C. The touch controller, adhesive, cover structure, host electronics, and enclosure must also meet the required environmental conditions.

Recommended Applications

Suitable project directions include:

  • Industrial HMI control panels
  • Smart-home operator interfaces
  • Compact equipment controls
  • Portable test and service terminals
  • Embedded configuration panels
  • Machinery status displays
  • Handheld industrial interfaces
  • Landscape monitoring controls

Outdoor, medical, vehicle, safety-critical, and payment-related equipment requires separate system-level engineering and regulatory review.

Customization and Procurement Scope

Project evaluation may cover:

  • Resolution selection
  • Parallel RGB or MIPI interface
  • FPC shape and pin definition
  • Touch-controller selection
  • Cover-lens dimensions
  • Touch structure
  • Brightness
  • Mechanical outline
  • Packaging
  • Controller-board matching

Custom configurations are reviewed case by case, subject to tooling requirements, material availability, and the requested specification. Sample and production quantities are confirmed separately.

Procurement and Sample Approval Checklist
