4.3 Inch 40 Pin TN Parallel RGB TFT LCD Module with ST7282 Driver

480×272 Normally White Display with 300 cd/m² Standard Brightness and Optional RTP or CTP

The 4.3 Inch 40 Pin TN Parallel RGB TFT LCD Module is a compact 480×272 display component for embedded HMI panels, controller equipment and small information terminals. It combines a normally white transmissive TN panel, 24-bit parallel RGB input, a 40-pin FPC and an ST7282 TFT driver IC. The standard module provides 300 cd/m² luminance, while higher-brightness configurations up to 800 cd/m² or above can be evaluated for project-specific requirements.

The base module is intended mainly for indoor or controlled-light equipment. High-ambient-light performance must be validated with the selected brightness, front optics, enclosure and thermal design.

Optical Performance and Brightness Selection

Standard 300 cd/m² configuration

The standard 300 cd/m² module is suited to equipment installed indoors or in controlled ambient light. It can support menus, numerical data, status icons, process graphics and other compact HMI content without requiring a high-power outdoor backlight.

The standard 300 cd/m² configuration is intended primarily for indoor or controlled-light equipment.

A front cover, dark bezel, enclosure recess or surface reflection can reduce perceived contrast. Optical performance should therefore be evaluated in the final mechanical assembly rather than from panel luminance alone.

Configurable higher brightness

A higher-brightness version can be evaluated when the application operates near windows, under strong factory lighting or in other high-ambient-light conditions. The available project route is listed as up to 800 cd/m² or higher, but the final brightness, power, thermal behavior and lifetime grade must be approved for the selected configuration.

Higher brightness does not by itself guarantee direct-sunlight readability.

TN viewing orientation

The panel uses a normally white TN structure with a typical viewing specification of 30° up, 70° down, 30° left and 70° right. The preferred viewing direction is identified as 6 o’clock.

This viewing pattern is appropriate for fixed-angle equipment where the operator normally looks straight ahead or slightly from below. The mounting angle should be confirmed when the screen is installed above eye level or viewed from multiple side positions.

Contrast and response behavior

The 500:1 typical contrast ratio supports readable text, controls, icons and basic graphical information. The specified response values are 20 ms rise and 24 ms fall maximum. These values are appropriate for ordinary HMI transitions and equipment status updates but should not be interpreted as high-refresh multimedia performance.

4.3 Inch 40 Pin TN Parallel RGB TFT LCD Module Compatibility

The panel accepts 24-bit parallel RGB data through a 40-pin FPC. The host must provide the correct pixel clock, synchronization signals, data mapping, voltage levels and display-control signals for the native 480×272 format.

A 40-pin FPC is not a universal interface

A 40-pin FPC does not guarantee compatibility with another 40-pin RGB LCD module.

Before connecting the display, verify:

  • Complete pin assignment
  • RGB data-bit mapping
  • Pixel clock and synchronization timing
  • Data-enable behavior
  • Power and logic levels
  • FPC pitch and contact side
  • Cable orientation
  • Backlight circuit requirements

An incorrect cable or unmatched pin map can prevent operation or damage the panel.

Consumer and serial interfaces need conversion

This module cannot connect directly to HDMI, USB, MIPI DSI, eDP or LVDS without suitable conversion hardware.

A controller board may be required when the host does not provide native 24-bit parallel RGB output. Controller selection must be based on the module timing table and pin assignment rather than resolution and pin count alone.

ST7282 integration boundary

ST7282 is identified as the TFT driver IC. Host initialization, register configuration and power sequencing must follow datasheet-defined timing and power requirements. The IC name alone does not establish compatibility with a particular processor, operating system or controller board.

Mechanical Integration and Backlight Planning

Active area and module fit

The active image area is 95.04 × 53.86 mm. The module outline is 105.5 × 67.1 × 3.0 mm, providing a compact landscape-format screen for control panels and handheld equipment.

The enclosure design should account for:

  • Active-area visibility
  • Bezel overlap
  • Mechanical tolerances
  • FPC exit position
  • Cable bend radius
  • Connector access
  • Optional touch-stack thickness

The enclosure window must be based on the controlled drawing rather than the active-area dimensions alone.

FPC routing

The FPC extends from the lower portion of the display. It should not be folded sharply, trapped under a mounting boss or routed against a metal edge. The final cable path should provide strain relief and sufficient clearance for assembly and servicing.

Backlight electrical reference

The backlight uses seven WLED chips with a listed reference of 21 V / 20 mA. This is a backlight-circuit value, not confirmation of the complete module input voltage.

The system must provide suitable current regulation and any enable or brightness-control functions defined for the approved version. The listed backlight life is 50,000 hours typical under the applicable operating conditions.

Touch and Customization Options

RTP or CTP is optional rather than standard.

A resistive touch panel can be evaluated for stylus, gloved or pressure-based input. A capacitive touch panel can be evaluated for finger-operated interfaces, but the touch controller, communication interface, cover lens and supported touch behavior depend on the selected construction.

Project evaluation can also include:

  • FPC shape or pin assignment
  • Backlight type and brightness
  • RTP or CTP integration
  • Cover-lens dimensions and printing
  • Mechanical adaptation
  • Controller-board review
  • Packaging and labeling

The displayed customization minimum is 500 pieces for listed options. Final scope, commercial terms and technical feasibility require configuration approval.

Recommended Applications and Selection Boundaries

This 4.3 Inch 40 Pin TN Parallel RGB TFT LCD Module may be considered for:

  • Compact industrial HMI panels
  • Embedded controller interfaces
  • Test and measurement instruments
  • POS and payment-terminal displays
  • Smart appliance controls
  • Portable equipment
  • Small monitoring terminals
  • Access-control interfaces
  • Indoor kiosk controls

Choose this module when the host supports native parallel RGB, the 480×272 layout fits the user interface and the TN viewing direction matches the equipment position.

Consider a different panel when the project requires:

  • Wide symmetric viewing angles
  • Direct HDMI or MIPI connection without conversion
  • Standard integrated touch
  • Guaranteed direct-sunlight readability
  • A certified automotive, medical or waterproof assembly
  • A higher native resolution

FAQ

about 4.3 Inch 40 Pin TN Parallel RGB TFT LCD Module

Is the standard module an 800-nit display?

No. The standard luminance is 300 cd/m². A version up to 800 cd/m² or higher can be evaluated as a customized configuration.

Can any 40-pin RGB controller operate the display?

No. The controller must match the exact pin map, data format, voltage, timing and FPC orientation.

Is the module suitable for direct sunlight?

The standard 300 cd/m² version is not positioned for direct-sunlight use. A higher-brightness version and complete optical assembly must be validated for the intended environment.
