6.9 Inch Small Stretched Touchscreen Module for Appliance HMIs

A narrow 280 × 1424 TFT platform with a four-data-lane MIPI connection, 350 cd/m² luminance, and selectable touch or HDMI evaluation options.

Product Summary

The Small Stretched Touchscreen Module is a 6.9-inch-class display platform for appliance controls and narrow embedded interfaces. Its native 280 × 1424 raster supports vertical menus, status indicators, temperature settings, cooking programs, equipment messages, and other information that must fit into a slim control-panel opening.

The base TFT LCM has a 33.60 × 170.88 mm active area and a 38.20 × 181.47 × 3.40 mm outline. Touch is a selectable configuration rather than a fully defined part of the base drawing, so the touch controller, interface, cover structure and combined dimensions must be approved separately.

Native 280 × 1424 UI Planning

Design for the Tall Raster

The native canvas is 280 pixels wide and 1424 pixels high in portrait orientation. Interface assets should be prepared specifically for this aspect ratio instead of scaling or cropping a conventional 16:9 design.

A practical appliance layout can divide the screen into persistent status, primary control, secondary settings, alerts and footer-navigation regions. Text size, touch-target spacing and icon contrast should be validated on the actual display because the panel is only 33.60 mm wide.

Confirm Installed Orientation

The mechanical drawing presents the panel in a long horizontal drafting orientation, while many appliance products install it vertically. Confirm the rotation, FPC direction, visible opening and coordinate origin before releasing UI assets or the enclosure.

Small Stretched Touchscreen Module Integration

Qualify the Four-Lane MIPI Connection

The drawing lists D0, D1, D2 and D3 differential data pairs plus a differential clock pair. This establishes a four-data-lane physical arrangement, but it does not define the lane rate, pixel format, command or video mode, timing parameters, virtual channel or initialization sequence.

The host processor must support the approved lane configuration and the native 280 × 1424 timing. A generic MIPI connector or another 40-pin panel should not be treated as plug-compatible.

Review the Complete 40-Pin Map

The FPC includes MIPI signals, grounds, IOVCC, 3.3 V supply pins, backlight anode and cathode connections, and additional control or reserved positions. Engineering review must verify:

  • Pin numbering and connector orientation
  • FPC pitch and contact side
  • Lane order and polarity
  • IOVCC voltage
  • VDD3.3 V tolerance and current
  • Control-pin functions
  • Backlight connections
  • Ground-return allocation

ST7703I and Power Documentation

Treat the Driver Name as an Identifier

ST7703I identifies the display-driver reference, but the name alone does not define initialization, gamma settings, reset timing, sleep behavior or power sequencing. Use the approved command and power package for the ordered module revision.

Separate Panel and Backlight Power

The drawing identifies 3.3 V supply pins and also lists a 24 V typical / 20 mA backlight reference. These are different power functions. The production design must confirm the complete panel rails, I/O voltage, backlight topology, current tolerance, enable control, dimming method and startup sequence.

Optical and Mechanical Qualification

Evaluate 350 cd/m² Behind the Final Stack

The 350 cd/m² value applies to the base LCM. A touch sensor, cover lens, printed border, anti-glare layer or air gap can reduce delivered luminance and change reflections. Evaluate the final stack under the appliance’s actual lighting rather than treating the panel value as finished-product brightness.

The ≥80% uniformity value is useful for long status and menu areas, but uniformity should also be checked after bonding and enclosure assembly.

Release the Base and Touch Drawings Separately

The 38.20 × 181.47 × 3.40 mm envelope applies to the base LCM. A touch configuration can change:

  • Overall width, height and thickness
  • Cover-lens overhang
  • Adhesive and bonding stack
  • FPC direction
  • Connector count
  • Bezel opening
  • Touch-to-display coordinate alignment

Do not release a touch enclosure from the base-LCM drawing.

Touch and HDMI Configuration Boundaries

Touch Is a Separate Integration Path

The selectable touch version requires its own controller, communication bus, supply, interrupt/reset routing, firmware, point count and environmental qualification. The MIPI display connection should not be assumed to carry touch data.

HDMI Requires the Optional Board

The panel does not accept HDMI directly. An HDMI configuration requires a board that converts the external video input into the required MIPI output and supplies suitable timing, initialization and power control. Confirm the board input, output, power connector, firmware, mounting dimensions and included cables.

Application Scenarios

The Small Stretched Touchscreen Module can be evaluated for refrigerator controls, ovens, microwave ovens, air fryers, range hoods, coffee machines, smart-home panels, compact equipment status strips and narrow industrial HMIs.

These applications remain subject to electrical, optical, touch, thermal and mechanical qualification. The base component data does not establish waterproofing, vibration performance, regulated-equipment certification or universal appliance compatibility.

Customization and Procurement

Touch panels, cover glass, printed borders, optical bonding, surface treatments, FPC geometry, luminance, backlight design, MIPI pin mapping, controller-board matching and enclosure adaptation may be reviewed by project.

Custom configurations are generally reviewed from 500 pieces, subject to tooling requirements, material availability and the requested specification. Sample and standard-module quantities are confirmed separately.

FAQ

About 6.9 Inch Small Stretched Touchscreen Module

What must be checked before connecting the 40-pin MIPI host?

Confirm four-lane capability, operating mode, lane rate, native timing, pixel format, lane order, polarity, full pin assignment and voltage rails. A matching connector count does not establish compatibility. The ordered ST7703I command and power documentation must also be available before first power-up.

How should the 280 × 1424 interface be prepared?

Create the UI at the native 280 × 1424 resolution and confirm whether the final product installs the panel vertically or horizontally. Keep touch targets large enough for the 33.60 mm active width and validate text, icons and alerts on a physical sample.

Is touch included in the base module?

Touch is a selectable configuration, not a fully defined element of the base LCM drawing. Request the touch controller, communication interface, point count, cover-lens drawing, combined outline, FPC details and firmware requirements for the ordered touch version.

Can an HDMI host connect directly to this panel?

No. The native display interface is MIPI. HDMI operation requires a separate conversion board with suitable MIPI output timing and initialization support. Confirm the board revision, firmware, power, mounting dimensions and included accessories.

What documentation is required before approving a sample?

Request the controlled module drawing, complete pin table, MIPI timing, lane configuration, ST7703I command package, panel and backlight power data, touch documentation when applicable, HDMI-board specification when selected, and the agreed optical and mechanical acceptance criteria.

Need a custom solution or samples?

Request Engineering Review Submit the host processor, MIPI mode and lane-rate capability, complete 40-pin definition, panel and backlight power data, ST7703I command package, native UI files, enclosure drawing, touch or HDMI-board requirement, installation lighting, sample quantity and annual demand. Engineering review for the Small Stretched Touchscreen Module covers MIPI compatibility, initialization, power, UI orientation, optics, touch integration, mechanics, optional board configuration and customization feasibility.
