19 Inch Wide Temp Industrial LCD Screen Kit for Retrofit

This 19-inch SXGA TN display pairs 1000 cd/m² luminance with an RT2281 DVI/VGA controller for legacy-equipment evaluation and retrofit planning.

Product Summary

The Wide Temp Industrial LCD Screen Kit provides a practical display-and-controller path for industrial systems that still depend on a 19-inch 5:4 screen format. The LCD uses a native 1280 × 1024 SXGA raster, 1000 cd/m² typical luminance and a 30-pin two-channel 8-bit LVDS panel interface. A matched RT2281 controller adds DVI and VGA source inputs for equipment where replacing the complete host platform is undesirable.

The kit format also gives engineering teams a direct evaluation path with the LCD, controller board, LVDS cable, backlight cable and wired keypad supplied as a defined display package.

Native SXGA Geometry for Legacy Retrofit Projects

1280 × 1024 preserves 5:4 interface layouts

Many industrial terminals and older control applications were designed specifically around a 19-inch SXGA workspace. Native 1280 × 1024 operation preserves the 5:4 canvas used by legacy software, dashboards, machine menus and process-control layouts.

Changing such systems to a modern widescreen panel can introduce scaling, unused display areas or enclosure changes. Retaining the native SXGA format can therefore simplify display replacement when the original software and mechanical opening remain suitable.

Mechanical fit must be checked independently

The visible image area is 376.32 × 301.056 mm, while the LCD outline is 396 × 324 × 11.7 mm. Both values matter during retrofit work: the active area controls the visible opening, while the complete panel dimensions control enclosure clearance, mounting and cable routing.

Optical Performance for Bright Industrial Areas

1000 cd/m² typical luminance

The 1000 cd/m² specification provides a higher-luminance platform for factories, terminals, commercial equipment and other installations with stronger ambient lighting.

A 1000 cd/m² LCD still needs testing behind the final front window. Cover-glass transmission, surface reflection, viewing angle and surrounding illumination can materially change the contrast seen by the operator.

TN normally-white optical mode

The panel is specified as TN, normally white and transmissive, with a 1000:1 typical contrast ratio. The viewing specification is listed as 85/85/80/80 at CR ≥10.

When installation orientation matters, the production documentation should define the direction order before the mechanical design assumes that each raw value corresponds to a particular side.

Wide Temp Industrial LCD Screen Kit Integration

30-pin LVDS requires complete electrical qualification

The panel-side connection is a 30-pin, two-channel, 8-bit LVDS interface.

A matching 30-pin connector does not establish compatibility by itself. Timing, voltage, channel mapping, bit convention, pin assignment, connector orientation and controller firmware all need to match the approved production panel.

DVI and VGA belong to the RT2281 controller

The DVI and VGA connectors are source inputs on the RT2281 controller board. They are not native interfaces on the LCD panel.

The controller converts the selected external video source into the LVDS signal used by the display. This distinction is important when a buyer is replacing an existing monitor or adapting a legacy host, because controller compatibility and panel compatibility are separate engineering checks.

Keep 5 V and 12 V power domains separate

The LCD uses a 5.0 V typical panel input, while the RT2281 setup requires a separate 12 V DC supply rated above 5 A.

The listed standby value below 1 W only describes the standby condition and must not be treated as the maximum operating power of the complete kit.

RT2281 Controller for DVI and VGA Retrofit Sources

Legacy video-input flexibility

DVI and VGA give the kit a useful bridge between older analog hardware and later digital equipment. This can be valuable in machine maintenance, service replacement and upgrade projects where the existing host cannot easily be redesigned around a new embedded display interface.

The controller board measures 125 × 58 × 17 mm, so the enclosure needs separate rear clearance for the board, power connector, cables and keypad connection.

Included components support bench evaluation

The supplied configuration includes the LCD, RT2281 controller, LVDS cable, backlight cable and wired keypad. This combination allows engineering teams to begin signal, mechanical and optical evaluation without first assembling an independent panel-control architecture.

Wide-Temperature Qualification Boundary

Wide-temperature capability should be treated as an engineering qualification item for the final 1000 cd/m² assembly, not as an assumed numeric range.

The production BOM needs to identify the exact panel and high-brightness backlight configuration and provide the approved operating and storage limits. This is especially important when the system will be installed in equipment that experiences seasonal, enclosure or thermal extremes.

Wide-temperature terminology does not establish an IP rating, waterproof construction or exposed-outdoor suitability.

Application Fit

Industrial control and maintenance

The 19-inch SXGA format is appropriate for legacy industrial HMIs, process-control terminals, factory equipment displays, maintenance replacements and other systems whose existing UI and enclosure were designed around a square-format screen.

Bright commercial and equipment displays

The 1000 cd/m² panel can also be evaluated for protected information terminals, equipment cabinets and commercial display hardware where stronger indoor or sheltered ambient light makes a conventional low-luminance screen less suitable.

Finished outdoor equipment still requires separate front-window, sealing, thermal and environmental qualification.

Configuration and Customization

Controller revision and firmware, complete LVDS definition, cable arrangement, approved wide-temperature grade, front glass, optical treatment, enclosure adaptation, mounting and optional touch development can be reviewed for a specific project.

Custom configurations are generally reviewed from 500 pieces, subject to tooling requirements, material availability and the requested specification. Sample and standard-kit quantities are confirmed separately.

FAQ

About 19 Inch Wide Temp Industrial LCD Screen Kit

What must be checked before replacing another 30-pin LVDS screen?

Connector count alone is insufficient. This panel uses a two-channel, 8-bit LVDS architecture, so the host or controller must match the timing, voltage, channel mapping, bit convention and complete 30-pin assignment. Cable orientation and controller firmware also need verification. Submit the existing panel datasheet, controller model and cable definition before treating another 30-pin display as interchangeable.

How do DVI and VGA relate to the panel's LVDS interface?

DVI and VGA are video inputs on the RT2281 controller, while the 19-inch LCD itself uses LVDS. The controller sits between the external video source and the panel. This allows older VGA equipment or DVI-equipped hosts to drive the display without making DVI or VGA native panel interfaces. Production release should lock the RT2281 revision, supported source timing and LVDS cable together.

Why are both 5 V and 12 V specified?

They apply to different parts of the kit. The LCD has a 5.0 V typical panel input, while the RT2281 controller requires a separate 12 V DC supply above 5 A in this configuration. The system power design must therefore treat the panel, controller and backlight path as defined electrical loads rather than connecting both values to the same rail.

Is 1000 cd/m² sufficient behind a protective front window?

It can provide a strong starting point for bright-ambient equipment, but the installed result depends on front-window transmission and reflection. A 1000 cd/m² panel can lose effective contrast when placed behind reflective glass or used at an unfavorable angle. Evaluate the completed optical stack under the actual site lighting before releasing the enclosure or brightness target.

What is required before the kit is released as wide-temperature?

Obtain approved environmental data for the exact production LCD/backlight/controller configuration. The project should define the required operating and storage limits, then confirm that the 1000 cd/m² modified display, backlight system, RT2281 board, cables and enclosure all meet them. Wide-temperature wording should not be converted into an arbitrary numeric rating without this production qualification.
