5 Inch Circular LTPS TFT Module for Smart Home Panels

This slim 1080 × 1080 circular panel supports high-detail radial interfaces and qualified 50-pin MIPI-DSI integration in wall controls and appliance panels.

Product Overview

The Circular LTPS TFT Module provides a high-density round interface for smart-home wall controls, premium appliance panels and embedded products built around radial navigation. Its 1080 × 1080 pixel matrix gives designers enough detail for smooth dial graphics, room-status information, device controls and layered menu systems.

The display uses an LTPS TFT-LCD structure with a normally-black operating mode and 16.7M-color capability. Its active area measures 127.008 × 127.008 mm, while the complete module measures 136.531 × 132.208 × 1.98 mm.

The standard configuration is non-touch. Touch, cover-lens and controller-board requirements should be treated as separate project configurations rather than assumed parts of the base module.

Designing a 1080 × 1080 Circular Interface

Circular Safe Area Within the Square Pixel Raster

A circular 1080 × 1080 panel still uses a square pixel raster and requires a circular UI safe area.

The host renders a complete 1080 × 1080 frame, but the visible front opening is round. Important text, temperature values, room modes, warnings and primary controls should remain inside a validated circular boundary.

Corner pixels can carry backgrounds or non-critical decoration, but essential content should not rely on those regions. The approved display drawing and final bezel opening should determine the production safe area.

Radial UI Layouts for Smart-Home Controls

The circular geometry works naturally with:

  • rotary temperature settings;
  • radial lighting controls;
  • room-mode selectors;
  • energy-use rings;
  • timer arcs;
  • central status values;
  • appliance operating modes;
  • audio volume indicators;
  • air-quality displays;
  • scene-control menus.

A circular layout is most effective when the software interface is designed specifically for the shape. Placing an unchanged rectangular UI behind a round opening can hide controls and reduce usable information space.

LTPS TFT Optical and Mechanical Characteristics

Normally Black Presentation

The normally-black mode supports dark interface themes, luminous icons and high-contrast radial graphics. This can help the inactive areas of the screen blend visually with a black bezel or cover construction.

The confirmed 16.7M-color capability supports graphical menus, gradients and differentiated status colors. It does not by itself confirm the host color format or exact signal-depth configuration.

Slim 1.98 mm Panel Integration

The module measures only 1.98 mm in panel thickness. This gives mechanical teams more freedom when developing slim wall controls, decorative appliance fronts and embedded panels with limited rear depth.

The complete outline is not perfectly circular. Its 136.531 × 132.208 mm envelope includes structural and connection areas outside the 127.008 × 127.008 mm active circle.

Mechanical evaluation should therefore include:

  • front opening diameter;
  • inactive border;
  • complete outline;
  • FPC exit direction;
  • rear connector clearance;
  • cable bend radius;
  • support pressure;
  • cover-lens thickness;
  • bonding stack;
  • electronics-board position.

Integrating the Circular LTPS TFT Module

MIPI-DSI and 50-Pin Compatibility Review

A 50-pin MIPI-DSI connector does not prove lane, timing, voltage or pin compatibility.

Before controller-board release, confirm:

  • MIPI lane count;
  • command or video mode;
  • pixel-clock and link timing;
  • D-PHY requirements;
  • complete 50-pin assignment;
  • connector pitch;
  • contact direction;
  • reset and enable signals;
  • panel logic supply;
  • backlight supply;
  • backlight control method;
  • FPC orientation.

Another 50-pin MIPI display should not be treated as a drop-in replacement solely because its connector count matches.

Host, Power and Backlight Boundaries

The product information confirms the interface family but does not confirm recommended supply values, backlight electrical requirements or an initialization sequence.

Obtain the approved electrical specification before PCB, cable or firmware release. Do not derive nominal operating voltages from other 5-inch round displays, even when their mechanical dimensions appear similar.

The identified LTPS TFT-LCD structure also does not establish a particular driver IC or host command sequence.

Application Fit for Smart-Home Panels

The module is particularly relevant to products where the circular screen contributes to the industrial design rather than serving as a generic rectangular information area.

Potential project profiles include:

  • smart-home wall controllers;
  • room-environment panels;
  • premium thermostat-style controls;
  • appliance command interfaces;
  • rotary-style scene controllers;
  • embedded audio controls;
  • IoT control terminals;
  • decorative functional displays;
  • instrument-style equipment panels.

Current manufacturer pages for similar non-touch 5-inch circular displays specifically cite home appliances, instruments, meters, industrial interfaces and smart-home systems as common application directions.

Product-level suitability still depends on interface, power, cover construction, environmental and certification requirements.

Touch and Controller Configuration Boundaries

The standard module is treated as non-touch.

A touch version requires separate confirmation of:

  • sensor structure;
  • touch controller;
  • communication protocol;
  • cover-lens dimensions;
  • active touch area;
  • FPC position;
  • bonding method;
  • total assembly thickness;
  • touch firmware requirements.

A control board or HDMI conversion board is also a separate configuration. MIPI-DSI is the panel-side interface and cannot be connected directly to HDMI without suitable conversion hardware.

The LCD panel, optional touch system and optional control board should be qualified as three separate integration layers.

Customization and Engineering Review

Project review may include:

  • touch-panel addition;
  • cover-lens printing;
  • cover shape and dimensions;
  • air or optical bonding;
  • FPC length and direction;
  • MIPI pin mapping;
  • control-board matching;
  • HDMI conversion;
  • backlight target;
  • enclosure adaptation;
  • packaging.

Custom configurations are generally reviewed from 500 pieces, subject to tooling requirements, material availability and the requested specification. Samples and standard-module quantities are confirmed separately.

FAQ

About 5 Inch Circular LTPS TFT Module

What must be checked before connecting the panel to a MIPI-DSI host?

Confirm the lane count, MIPI mode, timing, D-PHY requirements, complete 50-pin assignment, connector direction, panel supply and backlight drive. The module has a 1080 × 1080 pixel matrix and a 50-pin connection, but those two facts do not establish compatibility with an existing host board.

How should a 1080 × 1080 interface be adapted to the round viewing area?

Keep critical controls and text within a circular safe area instead of using the entire square raster. Validate the safe boundary against the 127.008 × 127.008 mm active area and the final bezel opening. Background graphics may extend into the corners, but primary controls should not.

Is touch included with the standard configuration?

No standard touch panel is confirmed. A touch version requires a separate sensor, controller, interface, FPC and mechanical drawing. The added touch and cover construction will also change the finished thickness, front dimensions and enclosure requirements.

Which dimensions should control the wall-panel enclosure?

Use the complete 136.531 × 132.208 × 1.98 mm module drawing rather than the nominal 5-inch size alone. Also confirm the circular active area, inactive border, FPC exit, connector clearance, cable bend radius and optional touch or cover-lens stack.

When is a controller board or HDMI conversion required?

A controller board is required when the host does not provide a compatible native MIPI-DSI output. HDMI cannot connect directly to the panel interface. Confirm the host output, conversion-board timing, panel pin mapping, power path and backlight control before selecting a board.
